Guluddene Traditional Healers and Herbalists Association
The Guluddene Traditional Healers and Herbalists Association is a premier non-governmental organization (NGO) in Uganda dedicated to uniting, mobilizing, and regulating traditional healers and herbalists. Fully registered with the Registrar of Companies under registration number 80020001377660, we are a legally recognized entity with members who have been thoroughly scrutinized by the National Executive Committee.
Led by President Mr. Jemba Godfrey Lumiramayengo, we draw leadership from the grassroots level—Parish, Sub-county, District, to the National level—ensuring a strong, community-rooted organization. Our mission is to preserve, protect, and promote Uganda’s herbal medicine and cultural heritage.
Our Aims
- To unify and empower traditional healers and herbalists in Uganda to practice with professionalism and credibility.
- To promote the integration of traditional medicine into Uganda’s national healthcare system.
- To safeguard the cultural heritage and sacred sites associated with traditional healing practices.
Our Objectives
- Regulation and Certification: Establish and enforce standards for traditional healers and herbalists through certification programs.
- Training and Education: Provide workshops, training sessions, and resources to enhance the skills and knowledge of practitioners.
- Advocacy and Policy Influence: Lobby for government recognition and support, including land allocation for medicinal plant conservation and inclusion in Uganda’s Vision 2040.
- Environmental Conservation: Protect sacred sites and promote sustainable harvesting and cultivation of medicinal plants in response to climate change challenges.
